Snapshot

Here is a snap of the state of my knitting world.  Dsc00980_3 Moving clockwise from the left, the basket contains stash remnants that want to become a stuffed animal for my nephew, Rowan.  Ro-ro turns one on 9/1.  The teddy bear I made him last year was my first non rectangular FO.  If you are curious about him, check on the 8/19/4 post here.  The white ball in the basket also wants to be a square for my parents church.  They turn them into blankets.  The open book in the back has stitch patterns that want to be used in the square. My recently completed socks are still popping up.  I expect to wear them a lot this fall and winter.

Next we have a hat that I finished knitting two weeks ago that needs to be re-seamed.  Rushing and seaming do not go well together.  The pale blue is one of three hanks of blue sky alpaca that is screaming to be knit into a scarf.  We then have a 65% completed sock that it's heel & foot bottom are being knit on smaller needles. Behind it is a scarf to go with the hat that is waiting to be seamed.  Finally we have Helen's Lace that really wants to become a lace shawl and the knit picks lace weight yarn sitting on top of to remind me not to do it now.   A few weeks ago I spent several hours trying a simple lace scarf with the latter.  Right now I do not have the attention span to focus on lace - one missed yarn over and you are toast.  Projects that have not made it to the picture but that simmer in my brain: the sweatshirt from the yarn girls book- do I try again (first shot was WAAAAYYYY to big) or get a book and designing my own sweater & go from there?  There is also a pair of self patterning socks from Knit Picks in a shade of blue that I know my good friend Bobbi will adore and the scarf that I keep in my car for when traffic comes to a complete halt on 495.

On the house front, my FF spent 4 hours today in the design center looking at options.  It is an exciting but exhausting process.  The best part is that we work well together and I am confident that we will come up with something beautiful.  They are supposed to break ground on our neighborhood this week.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.  Also ,we just found out that our home will not be completed until next summer.

On the wedding front, things are kicking into gear.  The reception will be at my parents place.  On the 20th I am going to go look at wedding gowns with my maid of honor.  The band has been picked and they can play U2 songs for my FF.  I am working on a color scheme.

I am out on business travel for the next two weeks.

Happy knitting!

FO Monday

Check it out!  I present to you two (2!!!!) finished objects!  This evening I completed the improvised yarn girl hat AND my second sock!  Wahoo!!  Dsc00975   Sock number 2 has been waiting rather impatiently for about two weeks for me to graft the toe stitches.  She is so happy to be done that she's having a beer!  Dsc00976

It just occurred to me that now I don't have a WIP!  Hmm.  That will change - but not tonight!

Yesterday I pared (sp?!) a hole on the golf course.  I am particularly pleased because I landed my first shot 12 inches from the pin.  I drove the ball over a really good sized body of water & then messed up & had two put it in.

All for now.  Sorry that I've been so erratic.  The Internet has been down a lot.  It looks like they (who ever 'they' are) have the problem fixed now.  Happy knitting!!
