Not quite focused

I am not quite ready to rip apart the hot pink socks and start over.  I have instead started a new project.  It is a chevron scarf scarf from the last minute knitted gifts book by Joelle Hoverson.  I have been eying scarf since I got the book.  I started it on Thursday at lunch and have made a little progress.  Dsc01150   I am using Koigu KPPM P52 and P426.  This is my first experience with Koigu and it is rather addictive.  So much so in fact, that I have already  asked my LYS to set aside nine more hanks of the P436 colorway so that can make a sweater from one of the Rowan issues.

Rowan 27 was the first formal pattern book that I ever bought (ohh what a slippery slope that was!).  I have been eying this sweater off and on for years but the needle and gauge size always turned me off.  I think that this colorway will be nice.  It'll keep me interested.  I am going to make the 3/4 sleeve version of this sweater and add a bit to the length - I can appear to be all legs - and not in sexy model type of way.  Dsc01152

Finally, here is a shot or two of the house.  They have added the stone for the fireplace and I really like it.  When this photo was taken, everything was still wet.  I am looking forward to going back and seeing it dry.  FF saw it the day they installed it and said that it was quite dark. One day later the color in the stones was starting to show through.  Dsc01153   Here is a shot of the master bath.

Dsc01147 I am off to knit!

Thank you Beth!

Beth thank you for the wonderful hand dyed yarn!  It is gorgeous!  I  hope that you have your own business sometime very soon!  Beth also gave me chocolate and a really cute hat pattern.  the beautiful candle and shade are from FF as is Ashley's dress (that can't be seen b/c it's one of those kinds of days).  The flowers are from my parents.  I appreciate having so much love in my life!Dsc01140     Dsc01142   I have fallen in love with Lippmann nail polish.  It costs more than OPI but it really lasts.  The color on the right is Maken' Whopee and on the left is Prelude to a Kiss.

So I'm on a hot pink kick now.  Check out the socks in the previous post too (or 1/2 of a sock).

Off to make dinner!

All kinds of excitement!

This post is going to be short, sweet & to the point as I 've got a busy afternoon ahead of me.  On the skirt sewing front, I am at the stage where I can actually try it on and I have discovered that it is about two inches two big.  Ughh.  Dsc01132   This would be a shot of the dining room table.  I was wearing the skirt when I took the image.  Prior to this masterpiece I actually took a picture of me, in the skirt while standing on the bathtub ledge and holding the excess fabric in my left hand.  Apparently I deleted that image.  Lovely.

Here is my progress to date on the first Dublin sock: Dsc01131

I just went and took a bunch of pictures cause I'm feeling guilty about not spinning.  Dsc01133  Dsc01134  It has potential.  The length is just about right.  I think it'll look cute with a little white tee shirt and sandals.  Not bad for my first article of clothing!!

The house has light fixtures that work.  I didn't take pictures.

I'm outta here!

Projects A-Longs

Life gets busier by the minute.  Updating the blog followed and house cleaning are the first two priorities to go by the way side. The third is unfortunately spinning.  I want to spin but I am doing it so erratically that it is frustrating.  I will get back to it.

On the knitting front.  I finished both of my gloves and promptly forgot to take pictures of them. I have started the Dublin Bay socks and also a hat for my Dad.  Dsc01126   I have joined the color spectrum project along.  I am jumping ahead and working on the March project in February but that my perogative.

I am also going to join a sew along that is a group of knitters learning to sew spring skirts.  I went to Joann Fabrics and in typical stash enhancing fashion, came back with fabric for three skirts.  I am going to use the batik fabric first, then make one in the paisley and finally one in the black.  I think that the fist two would work for running around, little league games, ect..  The black fabric is polished enough to possibly handle a casual day at work.  I am using a Butterick Pattern that calls for an elastic waistband.  I am hoping that these will be easy and will look nice enough to really wear. All of the fabric is machine washable.  Dsc01128

When I went to buy the fabric, I wore the hooded sweatshirt that I knit.  I still don't think the cut does much for my shape, but I love the colors.   You can sort of see it here. Dsc01125

This is what we woke up to this morning.  Dsc01121   We got about 9 inches.  The roads are in good shape now though.

Here is a house shot.  It is taken from the corner of the breakfast room looking at the kitchen.  The  space between the two top cabinets looks into the family room.  The sink will be beneath it.Dsc01109

Off to make chili for dinner.  I'll add the links to the two project alongs soon.
